Welcome, I'm Julie.
My journey with Reiki began in 2020 when I sought for change. My curiosity in whole-hearted wellness and self-healing modalities has led me to pursue my spiritual growth under the lineage of Usui Shiki Ryoho, the Usui System of Natural Healing. Reiki has offered me peace, self-compassion, and clarity during times of uncertainty.
As a Certified Reiki Practitioner, I trained under Reiki Master, Christopher Tellez, founder of SF Reiki Center. I am pleased to be able to provide in-person Reiki to Oakland and the surrounding East Bay communities, as well as distance Reiki for folks from abroad.
I am glad that you're here.

What is Reiki?
Pronounced "ray-ki" — from the Japanese characters, "rei” and “ki,” meaning “universal” and “energy,” respectively, Reiki loosely translates to “universal life force energy.” Originated from Dr. Mikao Usui at Mt. Kurama, Japan, Reiki is an ancient technique of natural healing that uses the palms of the hands in a gentle, non-invasive manner, to channel energy.
The Reiki practitioner facilitates the flow of energy to the recipient's body, activating a self-healing process that assists in physical and emotional relief, as well as elevating one's spiritual aura. Overall, the transfer of energy can bring about a profound sense of relaxation and calmness for the recipient.

Plan on wearing comfortable clothing.
For in-person sessions, I will be placing my hands over your clothed body and holding them over certain positions for various lengths of time.
For distance sessions, I suggest finding a quiet and safe space where you can comfortably sit or lie down. The key here is to allow yourself to be in a relaxed state to receive Reiki.

At the beginning of each session, we will work together to identify any physical, emotional, or mental concerns or goals that you would like to address. Reiki treatments work in tandem with conventional medicine, recovery from surgery, and psychotherapy.
During the treatment, you are ideally lying down with comfortable clothing in a safe and quiet environment. The flow of energy begins when my hands are placed on or hovered over your body. Everyone experiences Reiki differently, though sensations of warmth, tingle, or a deep sense of relaxation are often reported as signs of Reiki doing its work.

No. Reiki is a natural healing modality and a philosophy of care that trains its practitioners to be conduits for the universal life force energy. A Reiki practitioner listens without judgement and does not seek to understand the underlying causes of a client's symptoms; rather, presents the opportunity for the client's body to heal itself.

I ask those who are completely new to Reiki to experience 4 sessions over a span of 7 to 10 days. The compact time frame helps the body to become more receptive to the application of Reiki.
In the first session, the body is unfamiliar with Reiki, thus is often closed to the flow of energy. During the second treatment, the body starts to relax and open up to the energy flow. Reiki is usually felt the most strongly during the third and fourth treatments, where the body begins to experience the healing reaction that is desired by the client.
After we complete the first 4 sessions, I recommend clients to continue their sessions once a week until they are satisfied with their result.
